We talked down the stars
in a lazy haze
As the sky crept behind moon
and the ground turned red,
Insanity tickling the inside of skulls
with cold and pale fingers

You rolled from me
and whispered ''you fail me''
in skeletal voices.

The night smiled with crooked teeth,
bright eyed and fishy fleshed

Written whilst listening to Battle Of Mice, in about fvie-10 minutes. Should probably be in scraps, but no-one looks there.

A prize goes to the person who can get the cultural references

Clues; ones a book and the others an album.

hello mate, thats no scrap, "we stared down the stars," and "insanity tickling the insides of our skulls," are two great lines.

"skeletal" voices is perhaps a bit redundant in the aftermath of the skull line, which i adore and refuse to recommend be replaced in its stead.

Awesome, cheers! :D I might take another look at it later.

I've sat here for about 10mins now trying to get the references. I WILL GET IT.

(very nice piece by the way, stunning metaphors)

Thanks :D. Admittedly one of them is kinda tough, but the other should be pretty obvious. Depending on your music tastes of course.

Creepy... woah. Almost starts off love-ey...

Mmm I guess I haven't approprate music tastes :( heh. But let me guess where they are anyway:

"Insanity tickling the inside of skulls
with cold and pale fingers"

anddd..

"The night smiled with crooked teeth,
bright eyed and fishy fleshed"

On second thought, the latter is just too amazing and original... hmm.. *shrug* I dunno. Did I get at least one right?

PS. The last line's my favorite.
:icontimmythemule:
Part of the last line is the title of a book by Carlton Mellick third, which was just far too good to ignore, so i'm glad you like it, but i can't really take credit for it. Feels like i've cheated you now, haha.

But the first guess was all my creation :) Although it was 'You Fail Me' (which is an amazing album) by Converge.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read ! :D
